Americans anesthetize themselves on one hand, and blow out their adrenals on the other. We have either sold out, or been sold out to foreign countries. Our manufacturing heyday is gasping for one last gulp of uncontaminated air. We are experiencing the greatest obesity epidemic in history, and it shows no sign of abating. Miracle pills won't help. People need to learn how to push themselves away from the old feed trough, which has become another form of "heroin."
The turning point came when JFK was murdered. I have watched a slow decline in the quality of life, intellect, health, and national pride. People in the 60's would be shocked to see how the military Industrial complex has screwed over not only Americans, but a lot of people in other countries that are now dead, thanks to our "spreading democracy" fiasco. The world is misguided to follow in our footsteps. The big bank debacle, remember that ? Waging war isn't necessary every time a wild rumor flies across the computer screen. A few people have awakened to the stunts that our government pulls using fear tactics, lies, and psychological hoodwinking. Too many people fall for it.
Most of the craziness seems to be the stuff of news sensationalism. The naysayers and the general populace seem to be at odds whenever the subject of America's well being is at hand. My own take on our groupthink tendencies is that this can be countered by the practice of critical thinking, something most of America seems to find a bit daunting and thus allowing others to think for them....
