Cops are in fact replaceable. And people want jobs.
Actually in many cities, there is no long line of people clamoring to become police.

Would you want to police in Detroit city.... the murder capital of the US?

I'd wager that most couldn't go 3 months w/o a paycheck.

Some mayhem. Far from total.

Or would the common man rise up to bash the miscreants?
There'd definitely be some cases like that, I'm sure. But after 90 days, they'd be investigated and consequences could follow.

I kind of wish they'd take about a two week vacation in our town. That would give us time to clean the riff raff out and dispose of the evidence.

The real police don't strike. That is really the gig at the end of the day. You protect the public right? Whether you are getting paid or having strife in the community or what have you. Every police agency I know of has a no strike clause.

What is a bigger deterrent to crime....homeowners with guns or cops? I do not know. In any event, we would see a lot of very aggressive driving.
