What would happen if all the cops in the land did nothing but occupy the local donut shops for a period of 90 days? Would we have total mayhem? Or would the common man rise up to bash the miscreants?

We'd train up new cops, have the national guard cover for a bit, and carry on.

Cops are in fact replaceable. And people want jobs.

Some of us would get sick.

Believe it or not, not everyone who has been a cop eats donuts.

But in answer to the question, recognize at least two things. The Chief of Police is not part of the Union (at least some are not)..............and the Sheriff is not a cop. So odds are that the CoP will be finding ways to fill his ranks and cover his bases......and the Sheriff will be deputizing the common man and woman.

If they are all at the donut shops just don't pay them. They'd catch on pretty quick. Especially if they couldn't buy any more donuts.

Not in 90 days you won't. Hiring a qualified applicant can take longer than this.

Many police departments are not part of an y union as unions are not very effective in these states. And the Sheriff is most certainly a COP in many states. VA being one.

What I meant was that the Sheriff is not a cop like police are cops. The CoP can be, conceptually, fired tomorrow as could other police but the Sheriff has a job till the next election.

For one thing, you'd have a lot of overweight cops!

For another, crime would rise. Not right away, but gradually, as perps become bolder and more brazen, until we have a Mafia system in place to protect businesses and homeowners. At that point, the police will be powerless to fix the situation.

It's happening right now in Baltimore. Arrests are down, crime is up, with gangbangers walking down the street, guns in view, and shooting anyone they feel like.

They asked for it, they got it... No sympathy.
