One thing that always surprises me about this issue is how neither side (pro-life vs. pro-choice) is willing to compromise in the name of common sense. Of course, it's impossible to define when life begins, however it's obvious that having an abortion at 3 weeks is vastly different than having an abortion at 8.5 months...I have zero problems with bans on late-term abortions, just as I have zero problems with first-term abortions being completely legal (though not federally funded).
I realize it's impossible to draw a firm line regarding the exact point of viability, but I support common-sense compromises that allow women who have just found out they're in the early stages of pregnancy to seek an abortion if they so choose, while protecting the lives of babies in the later stages of pregnancy.
