Nonsense. There are plenty of very moral people who don't believe in God.

And, America never stopped being great...until perhaps the Trump cult began.

If yes to any of these questions....yes, I feel bad for her. Other wise no.
I think you bring up an important point.

Reminds me of my sister who died in her early 50s due to drug and alcohol use destroying her body. I have no sympathy for her drug/alcohol abuse and early death. I do have sympathy for the forces which led her down that path.

I think people are vastly overestimating the dangers presented by HIV to porn actresses. Women getting HIV in pornography today is extremely rare. It is far less likely than dying while going 100 MPH on a motorcycle with no helmet or shooting up drugs. In fact, I'm not certain that there has been a single additional case of a female in the industry acquiring HIV in the 2010s: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STDs_i...industry#2010s

Sympathy is a good emotion to feel about someone suffering a misfortune. Many posters are condemning the woman for choosing the wrong segment of the acting profession. That is part of what is wrong with our traditional way of looking at sex. We condemn sex and glorify violence. Something is wrong with that attitude.

IMHO working in the porn industry is like any other job. You are trading your time and skill for money. The woman involved does have some treatment available. I hope she recovers.

I'm not sure who Girlzilla is or who her father is, but strippers do not all fit the same mold. I've known a few. Many are single mothers; some are legitimate students trying to make more than they would as a waitress; some have abusive backgrounds and others do not; some are nice and reasonably well-adjusted people and others are not.

Also, I enjoy visiting strip clubs and I am not a drooling perv, but thanks for your concern. I am a normal married man who does this with my wife's permission and encouragement when I travel.

And some recent studies tend to show they are more "moral" than those who profess to believe in God/Gods.

If they're not taking precautions against STDs like HIV (not using condoms, not doing regular testing, etc) then IMHO it's hard to feel bad. People know the risks of having unprotected sex with anyone, let alone a fellow porn actor whose body has been God knows where and exposed to God knows what. But if they are careful and do everything they should and still manage to get infected, yeah I have sympathy.

I can't feel that bad for someone who does not actively try to be responsible and preventative in a situation like this.

Porn is pretty widespread, and while I am not trying to defend its value to all of society, it is at least clear that millions and millions of people utilize it -- for better or worse.
^^ What he said.^^ The VAST majority of porn is streamed over the internet. As the popularity of free internet "tube" sites increases...the traditional porn industry is quickly vanishing. In 20 years the San Fernando Valley porn buiness will have gone the way of Pets.com.

I think we all feel like this to an extent.
The man in the coal mine is a great example and how could you not have empathy for him? The same goes for the porn star but they both knew it was a job that came with risks.

How about a skydiver or a mountain climber? They both know that those hobbies can kill them and they take every precaution not to die but it happens.

How about the criminal that is breaking into houses to feed his family? How about the one stealing to support his drug habit? How about the criminal that is stealing just for fun? They all have a chance of getting caught by the Police and being thrown in jail or being caught by the gun toting homeowner who shoots them dead.

Who do we feel bad for? Here on city data I think most believe it is a good thing when a criminals luck finally runs out.

Everyday people willingly tempt fate. The key is not being forced into a dangerous situation. If they are exploited it is easy to feel badly for them.
Further evidence that our culture has 0 value for human life.

Let's look at this scenario from a bigger picture. This a person with basically no options. They're homeless, for starters. Homeless people struggle to find decent jobs because they don't really have the resources to put themselves together enough for a job. Yeah, there are services, but I don't really believe anyone who hasn't been homeless gets to judge the homeless too critically. You can't even imagine what that would be like. To not know for sure where you'll sleep; to not know if you'll eat tomorrow? To not know if you'll be alive tomorrow.

The fact is, prostitution and eventually pornography were a place where someone like this could get a job. So they took it. Now they're hurt, and people won't feel bad.

But let's say she didn't take the job and remained homeless. People still won't feel bad for her because 'she should just get a job.'

Our culture is disgusting. Plain and simple. There's a reason we're the most heavily medicated society on the planet. We're all miserable and no one cares.
