We can't stay locked down for too long because of the irreparable damage it'll do to the economy.....

WOW. So, for all of you pro-lockdown people who kept telling us anti-lockdown folks that we need to "listen to the experts" and giving us the whole "lives over economy" spiel, what now? The expert, Dr. Fauci has even said that we can't sustain a long down without the economy being massively damaged. Funny enough, many of the doctors whom have countered his narratives and whom have shared his newly found sentiments, have been censored but now Dr. Fauci says it, its right. Unreal!

He's not an economist. Why is he stepping outside of his field?

^^
This is from February when he said the risk of COVID was minuscule.

That is a fair question.

There's really no debate fodder in what he said.

He doesn't really say anything. He says overextending lockdowns without saying what's too long and what economic and public health data he's using to warn of overextending.

I think they've come to the realization that coronavirus will be permanent and much of the way business is done is going to have to change regardless. At least 42 percent of the jobs won't be back.

economic restructuring

With the over the top politization of the virus and it's durable threat to world wide economies, I'd think most people would understand the resulting friction as a purely political driven phenomenom. We will never have any real concensus on--anything, in the foreseeable future. This continuing Fauci rant is to be expected, after all, the two parties in DC must, at all cost, appear to be coming down on the side of their base, even though they can't agree on what that will mean when cosidering anything beyond that much needed haircut, or lack of church services, some are so upset about.

The other crucial aspect to all of this comparison of official statements revolves around the problems associated with how the US has been unwilling to prepare for such a epidemic/pandemic, and the fact that one came along before the official "plan" could be unveiled. Just imagine the outcry of "muh rights" and all the constitutional misunderstandings that would have ensued, had the administrations of Obama, or Trump allowed us a peek into just how authoritative the government's response would be.

I'm positively convinced that Obama, and Trump's handlers, knew that the political fallout would not be a minor consideration had either announced a plan to lockdown most non essential business in the event of such a widespread medical threat. And that only underscores the fact that politicians are far more focused on their political career than anything resembling our national well being. I've been listening to Fauci and Birx, but also paying attention to Dr Michael Osterholm, a very real expert on infectious diseases. Osterholm points out the difference between Trump's proclamations and our utilization of caution on a very personal level. So, whether one suspects Fauci, Birx, Trump, Osterholm, or others proclaiming their opinions on a return to business as usual, it's eventually going to be our decision--period..

Double yes.
He was 'encouraged' to hail to the chief and follow the non sense spewed by an inexperienced leader.
I lost a smidge of respect for him .he sold out to the dark side.

Fauci should be set for life. Birx too. Why they went along with this farce for this long I don't know. Thing is no matter what is done now ... it's too late. Stick the fork in. We're done. About the only survivors on the other side of this thing will be Amazon and Chipotle. Even the airlines are done. They just are waiting until the end date on the loan agreements so they can file Chapter 11, 13 or whatever the hell they file when they want to stiff all their creditors and run, not walk, to the airport where charter flights are waiting.

Did nobody know that it was not the greatest idea to lockdown the biggest economy in the world? But worse than that, to terrorize the bejeezus out of the populace with tales of bodybags piled 20 deep in front of receiving hospitals from coast to coast. A good number of Americans will NEVER go to a movie again. Will never eat in a restaurant again. Will never shop in a retail establishment again. 1/5 of dentists offices will never reopen. Entire malls will never reopen. 10's of millions of Americans will never get back the jobs they had again. Millions upon millions will never work again.

I didn't need Fauci to see the light after three months. I've been saying this since early March.
