And here we go about morality again. I wonder what do people really think of when they think of the 'morals' and 'morality' of our yester years. ...This whole thing of 'morality' and the moral fabric of society degenerating is a complete farce. We've always had it, it's just people are more open about it today than they were 50, 100, and 200 years ago. The same things happened. But you didn't hear about it nearly as much.
Over 2,000 years ago Plato bemoaned that the decay of morality in his country would destroy the universe. ...Oldsters usually see youngsters as deviants. Youngsters do nothing but normailze deviance from norms. This is as it should be. This is the way the human race has been going for eons.

I just read that graigslist has become a haven for prostitutes to advertise! And ther are going to start setting up stings for people using or abusing the personal section they offer!

You forget that two adults having sex in exchange for money is the most dangerous thing going on in this country today

You all need to realize that prostitution tends to promote other types of crimes. Whether it should be illegal or not is a tough issue. But, at the same time, at least with it being illegal it DOES promote far more serious crime.

...so it's OK to give sex away for free, but you aren't allowed to charge for it? Yeah, that's logical...

Exactly! Prostitution is not nearly as bad as all the human/drug trafficking and rape that is associated with it. Lets face it, the demand for prostitution allows these guys to gain enough money to run international trafficking rings, where girls are taken from poorer countries like some former soviet states and promised a life as a model or actress and when they arrive they realize they have been sold as sex slaves. so to deal with it they turn to hard drugs like cocaine and heroin. and this is all made possible because prostitution is illegal.

illegal prostitution = higher price, all money goes into criminal hands, promotes human and drug trafficking, women not given decent wage, humane treatment, or ample medical treatment / checkups which leads to spread of stds.

legal prostitution could = lowered price, taxable revenue, prostitutes get fair share of revenue, protection by law, access to medical treatments/ checkups. I cannot say for sure it would lower the drug use but it would stand to reason that people given a decent living/working environment are less likely to use drugs.

legalize prostitution, its the right thing to do

In theory, that sounds great. I'm not sure it's quite that simple though.

But the genius is in the simplicity! Obviously there would be issues such as the location of brothels but that could easily be solved by simple zoning laws. The only thing that stops this from happening is the morality issue as to weather people should be allowed to sell their bodies, and I say they already do (porn). so were literally splitting hairs here by saying its not prostitution because both people are being paid by third party to have sex with each other.
