I think the idea that people have kids for financial gain is retarted. Those with no kids might find it hard to believe but raising a family costs much more than any concieved financial bonuses. You get a deduction on your tax's, whoopie do.
We have kids because we are biological organisms & the fact of the matter is that just like all other organism's our only real purpose for living is to perpetuate the species. We can invent all kinds of more meaningful reasons for our existence but we are what we are, smart monkeys, Obama included.
The difference is that we are smart enough to see what damage we do, but we still dont do anything about it. China did what it did for many reasons but none were for the betterment of the world or out of a morally supperior view.

I do know that theres too many of us but dont think the answer lies within our ability to have or not have kids. Nature will provide the answer, she already is & we fight it by sending food & aid to places unfit to support life. When fish overpopulate a body of water they use up the resources & die off. When people do this they steal from Peter to pay Paul & permit generation after generation to suffer in brutal conditions. Then we talk about limiting reproduction. How about letting nature take its course?
When an area becomes incapable of supporting the fauna in that area the critters leave or die. This aids in natural selection & allows evolution to happen, thats another driving force of nature that we fight, evolution.

People can come up with all kindsa ideas & thoughts, but we will eventually be killing each other over the limited resources of the planet because thats what animals do & thats what we are. Denying it is folly. We cant stop killing each other now & we arent starving.

No no no no no, my husband told me the sex of the baby is determined by what position you have sex in, so if you only do it missionary, then we won't have any more boy babies, well maybe you're right, that would solve the world's problems.

My husband and I have a constant battle of the sexes thing, based on the world today, I'd say the men are up. We need more women refs.....some of these fouls aren't being called....anyways I'd say the best population control is mother nature and contraceptives, anymore interceding is just selfish, more the merrier!

Here's a plausible scenario. Daytime radio reports the science news flash that the moon has an atmosphere and water and everything, nice and green and lush. The moral majority will believe what they say, uncritically, as usual. Then, we gather up all the lazy baby-poppers who are stealing the hard-earned money from the personally responsible workers, load them into rocket ships, and just drop them off on the moon, like Botany Bay. Moral, ethical, and efficient.

That's a side effect of the policy, unfortunately. I have to note that some of the imbalance also has to do with the way it is enforced (those in the countryside can have another child if the first is female, which also skews the birth ratio)
But the benefits of the policy still stand. It's hard to understand if you haven't known what its like to grown up there. Imagine the US, with many times over the amount of people, and even fewer resources, and a fraction of the development.
The US has many policies which allow death and violence, but which we (although not always me) hold are more important than those outcomes.
And most of all, it's not your country. Do we have a right to tell others what to do, but not have them tell us?

As far as Im concerned the population control takes care of itself. Wars break out, health epidemics, , mother nature etc. They say we are over due for a pandemic that will wipe out millions perhaps billions of people.

I dont care what the Chinese or any other country does as long as they dont meddle with US. I'm not sticking up for those little girls, but I dont want it to happen here.

That's not realistic these days. There could never be anything near a forced family size in the US.

oh? we've had all those, yet the population has gorwn exponentially. In fact, population growth is often largest in regions where these problems are most acute.
Plus, hopefully we can achieve population control, while still working against these things.
