Did you say Dopy, o, slopy. Mauby relaxed?
Too relaxed is, slopy. Lucks respect for one selfe and ensolts the eyes of beholder.
Or perhaps its a trend. Created by boredom.
To radicule a status of sociaty that imulates freedom of expretion, even though we some time loose our
lunch, from the visual impact.
But then, why do we dress up the dead, if we do not
respect the living? By any means posible.
I just can't stop wondering. How useles and slopy is
that? With respect to the art of slopines. I mean slobines.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I'm 50 and have seen a lot of fashions come and go, but can't believe what I'm seeing these days--mismatched socks, saggy baggy jeans, bra straps hanging out, etc. I know I probably sound like an old lady, "In my day. . ." Oh yeah, and we all weigh about 30 lbs more than we used to in the old days too.

What got me thinking about this was when I was going thru old photos and found a pic of my mom when she graduated from nursing school and she was wearing her crisp white starched uniform. She looked like a professional. And then I remembered when I was a girl scout and we had uniforms that looked a lot like the nurses uniforms of those days and they were hideous but we loved them b/c we felt so grown up and professional. We had a sash with all the badges we'd earned and it gave us a feeling of accomplishment to wear that to school each week so we could show them off.

Nowadays, the nurses run around in their pajamas and I'm not knocking that b/c it's so much more comfortable, but what are they losing in professionalism when they wear scrubs with bunnies on them? And when the girlscouts redesigned their uniforms for comfort, the girls pretty much lost interest in them and I haven't even seen a scout in uniform in years.

My teachers wore skirts and high heels that clicked and they inspired some awe in us, but nowadays I've even seen some teachers wear denim shorts to school.

I don't know that I'm exactly complaining--I like my comfort as much as the next person, but I do feel that we've lost some pride maybe. Thoughts?
Have you been out of the country for a long time? This has been true for decades. No, I'm not saying it was all good back when or all bad now either - in fact I'm glad (for ex) I don't have to wear a dress shirt and tie to work any more - but "anything goes" now seems to be the norm and we've taken it all waaaay too far. In fact, what you described are the tamest of examples. It's gone beyond low standards and a simple lack of pride to flat out "bizarro" and disgusting. Stuff that used to be over the top even for Halloween is now acceptable as regular garb.

It's the Walmart Era folks. Be afraid.

Well, at least she was trying to do something with her hair. The typical female hairstyle these days is none (or could we call it the long oily mop look?). I think a crew cut would look better.

You know you're getting old when you look at an old granny, excuse me, 'seasoned citizen' (who still typically style their hair meticulously) and think, oooohhh yeah. Nice.

Of course, I should keep my mouth shut. I'm male. Besides, I don't have all that much hair left.

She was just a dumb, classless woman who acted accordingly by being loud and drawing attention to herself - as if the pink spongy curlers weren't enough! lol

I would also state that she was black but I wouldn't want that to be construed by anyone here as some kind of racist comment.

However, it was SHE who had the pink spongy curlers in her hair . . . not me.

And was she wearing down-at-the-heel, fuzzy, floppy bedroom slippers?

No, but I've seen those often at the store . . . along with the pajamas.
