How else will drug addicted Hollywood celebrities get their fashion accessory, errr, adopted baby?

That's unrelated to my question. If natural children can be taken away from abusive parents, so can adopted children.

Why shouldn't any family be allowed to, with minimum impediment, either have natural children of their own, or adopt any child whose custodian agrees to relinquish them? Why should the two cases be handled differently, with greater care being taken in one than the other?

I agree that they can be taken away.

However, especially with adopted children, they are already hurt emotionally and spiritually. Imagine not knowing where home is, and by the time you start getting used to a home, you are ripped out of that reality, and thrown into another one.

Adults can't even handle this situation sometimes, let alone children. Sure, they will be physically ok, but mentally, they will be gone by the time they reach adulthood under these circumstances.

Thats why adoption is such a process, and hard to get approved for. They want to make sure that the parent/parents who adopt are stable, and aren't just going to give the children away at the first issue they don't like.

.

There are plenty of controls in the USA such that there is a very small number of children who are so severely abused that they need to be rippled out of their reality. This is not a high enough risk to condemn millions of children to languish in horrible orphanages while you make sure mommy and daddy will always buckle you in your little car seat in the BMW.

Our Foster Care programs actually systematize exactly the downside that you described.

Couldn't agree more.

A background check, and a psych exam should be enough of a check, in my opinion.

Well that excludes Hollywood actresses.

I think that is a stupid idea.

Not banned, but definitely more scrutinized and regulated than it currently is. Especially from Eastern Europe and the Third World.

www.childhelp.org/resources/learning-center/statistics -

Over 3,000,000,000 cases of child abuse is reported every year in the USA. I don't know what controls are in place to prevent a child from being jerked from the home. If you are talking about child abuse prevention, will you give examples of these controls and how well they work?

That would be every child being abused every week. Not even counting the ones that are NOT reported.
