It's a stupid idea, mostly because of cost. But also because drugs are far from the only thing that welfare recipients can waste their money on, yet it would be singled out (expensively). Not to mention, drug tests are easy to cheat on, and if it's any drug other than marijuana, the person only has to go a few days without the drug to be clean.

I agree 100%. We should drug and alcohol test them all and if they are clean then we should make them all use drugs and alcohol because they all sure act like they need to be on something with the way the run our country.

I say no with exception of when a welfare benifits include giving a person a car.
There are some states which give cars ( or vouchers for the purpose of buying a car) to people in poverty.
I would think they would want to cover their a$$ to keep drug users out these cars

If you can be tested for drugs on the job, why shouldn't you also be tested for drugs as a recipient of other citizens' tax dollars?

I believe this was discussed early in this thread. You might what to read what others have said, so you can keep up, before joining a discussion.

Here is the reason:

On the job you are an employee, subject to work rules set by your employer. Your employer can ask you to pee in a cup, because you have no protection under the law as an employee, and risk termination of your employment if you refuse.

A poor person is not an employee, they are citizens. Your government, when dealing with any citizen, no matter how much or how little money they have, has to abide by the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.
