"Earthquakes aren't just a side effect; they're literally how the process of fracking for natural gas works: Fracking, or hydraulic fracturing, requires that you inject fluid at high pressure deep into rocks in order to split them asunder. The micro-earthquakes this process causes are how you know it's working. Generally, they're too slight for anyone to feel. The United States Geological Survey doesn't think the production wells used for fracking in the Arkansas are causing the most recent large earthquakes. Rather, they think the problem is "re-injection" wells, in which fracking wastewater is forced under pressure into the ground beneath small towns."

One might think it rude for someone to state that breathing is toxic to the environment. Did you write your congressman and object to the EPA proclaiming you a public hazard?

No, the article linked in the original post is designed to titillate, inflame and induce irrational fear - hence, DISASTER PORN.

Just another doom and gloom topic from the king of doom and gloom....... (unless the subject is bicycles)

Almost every post by this person starts with something similar.

Hmm I thought "releasing" natural gas caused earthquakes.

The Japan earthquake was just caused by fracking in Arkansas.

Tomorrow there will be an 11.2 earthquake cracking the earth in half and releasing dinosaurs from it's core.

They will eat your face.

If there’s nothing to this topic then we have nothing to worry about. However if we ignore it and something happens we might have wished we had paid more attention to it ,,,,, , well it could be too late.

I’d say pay attention to the topic, learn and investigate all that we can now. If there’s nothing to it after we learn more, then we’ve lost nothing.

Acting without understanding is simply foolish. There is no logical or rationale reasoning one can make to blindly apply solutions to an unknown problem.

What is needed is continued research, but under the rigid requirements of proper scientific process. As it is now, this has been lacking in that field and it needs to be restructured to insure that politics and agenda driven interest groups do not drive its process.
