If the Triad were to get a casino (probably not happening any time soon), I suspect it would in Kernersville or somewhere in between Greensboro or Winston-Salem rather than being IN either city.

Maybe the land where the major league baseball stadium was proposed? Near Triad Park.
Normally one development doesn't turn a city around but in this case, the casino project will set Danville on a new course. It's going to do what nothing else could. The city is dying and it will inject some new life in Danville. I can see it attracting other tourism related development.
Caesars has issued a RFP for construction of the casino. A general contractor is expected be picked by the end of January, with mobilization on the site beginning in the spring.

A casino is better than nothing and I wish Danville success, but history has shown them to be far from the panacea that you present. The vast majority of jobs created are low paying service, and since the House never loses, they take in far more money from the local population than they pay out. Hinging a city's revival on gambling is a more desperate economic plan than a sound one. Though at the end of the day, it certainly beats the ruins of a crumbled factory.
Yeah, I don't know if I've ever seen a casino coming to town as anything other than a last ditch resort to keep the town from dying completely. And with more and more casinos popping up all over the US I don't know how much outside tourism this thing will actually attract.
