Honestly, I think this is probably about what can be expected for this location. Not a bad thing though as that area isn't a very high income area. But even that place has a few stores that are more to the "middle" if you will... like Papa Murphy's, Mod Pizza, Tropical Smoothie, Crumbl, and Cold Stone.

I didn’t say anything about “high end.”

For sure. I was speaking mainly about just how their developments look. I’m expecting a boring looking retail center, but if it does indeed include residential and a medical facility, I’m hoping it’ll have a slightly more interesting design.

Maybe Greensboro needs to go a different direction. Stop building new shopping centers and focus on all the run down ones they have at the moment. Theres definitely a hand full that could use a face lift or tore down completely! Start making better use of those shopping centers .

I'm still not digging the suburban shopping center layout but its better than nothing. I would have preferred a layout similar to the Villages at North Elm. Obviously less fancy though.

"The type of overall development we're going for does not exist in Greensboro," Lewis said, noting that the apartments, office and retail would blend seamlessly.
This part of the article makes me hope the design will be much different than this rendering. Ryan Co.'s developments look impressive. Hopefully we'll get something unique. Time will tell.

Typically when reality is different from the rendering, its not in the direction of more impressive.

That part of the article is simply marketing speak. It's PR. Nothing more. Nothing less. In truth, this is run of the mill. It's also still a positive development for that general area.
