Went to Costco last evening - what a mess - traffic just stops at Verdae/Woodruff - can anyone imagine what this road will become once Cabela's opens? Woodruff Road is one of the most ill-conceived/poorly planned roads I've experienced. Is there any help? I still cannot understand why Woodruff is not (at least) 6 lanes. If it weren't for Trader Joe's (and maybe Target), I'd avoid this corridor. Fortunately, I can still get to Whole Foods/REI/Greenridge easily thru I-CAR/Millennium.

Not trying to be rude but you did go on Woodruff Road on a Saturday during the Holidays. What did you expect? Six lanes would not help either. The problem isn't the number of lanes. The problem is the number of access points.
Is it usually better on Sunday? I went to google maps a couple of hours ago and it showed the traffic as moving quickly from Verdae to Trader Joe's. Looks like I will have to do in Greenville what I already do here in Raleigh: avoid shopping on Saturdays.
It is usually better on Sunday, but during the peak shopping season, all bets are off. A blockbuster movie in Magnolia, combined with several smaller items could set off a traffic snarl on Sunday though.

Thanks. Guess I didn't think it was shopping season yet.
We only drove on Woodruff yesterday because my husband wanted to get gas at Costco. We were planning on doing a little shopping, too, but the lot was packed. No wait at the gas pumps, though!
Next time we are in town I think we will look for one of the non-chain restaurants.

Spot on. Coming out of Magnolia and heading straight across to Trader Joe's is absolutely awful. There are several more access points into/out of the shopping center and those don't seem to get used as much. The worst snarl is from the Whole Foods and the shopping center across the street down slightly past the restaurants beyond Magnolia.

no offense taken - this is merely my annual rant on Woodruff - I'm no traffic engineer, but is there anything the city/county can do to reduce access points?
Thank god there are other parts of this city to exist in. We live up near TR and never understand our neighbor's fascination with the Woodruff road area. They go there for EVERYTHING. We've been there maybe once in the past year.

Many people prefer options that don't have a "Walmart" sign outside. Woodruff Road is the only place in the metropolitan area to find the stores listed recently in the other Woodruff Road shopping thread (and many others not listed as well).
