Jeez: Laurens Co. Republicans Asking Candidates To Sign Support Of Party's Principles | WSPA

The SC Republican Party of Laurens County requires that if you want to join their party and be on the ballot, you must:
-Never have had pre-marital sex
-Be faithful to your spouse, and your spouse cannot be a person of the same gender
-Promise to never look at porn again

More proof that SC is still just as backwards as ever. Don't blame me though. I didn't vote for these idiots. Funny that the Republican party which claims they want less government involvement when it comes to citizens actually want more of it here.

I'm very conservative, but I find that ridiculous. Guess I'll never be a registered Republican!

Nothing wrong with requesting your spouse be of the same gender... this is just common sense, 20 years ago this wouldn't even of been an issue.

I'll bet Ricky Chastain is glad he has already joined the party and therefore doesn't have to sign the pledge. But that was likely the driving force behind the resolution: Laurens County GOP Calls On Sheriff To Step Down; Sheriff's Attorney Responds

I'm conservative as well, and it's crazy beyond belief.

Of course it's illegal, and they can't actually stop a candidate from registering so it's really just small town political nonsense, making noise for the sake of making noise.

Oh, lordy.... While I'm sure their hearts were in the right place, that was a really dumb thing to do. Oh, well.... Let the (continued) ridicule begin!

Don't worry, as hypocritical as ever, I'm sure at the very least everyone that signs it will be lying through their teeth about at least one of those, and most likely 3.

Do you mean opposite gender? I don't think it's any political party's business either way.
