Not saying I dont believe you, I just want to be sure before I get all hyped, seeing as theres no word from CF or Haywood Mall so far. But I hope this is true, SC should have one by now, dont know why they overlook us.

Wouldn't CCF have a larger footprint than Panera? Will other spaces be involved?

I think plans are to redo the parking lot/driveway over there. Apparently they want a SouthPark Charlotte feel with a driveway and valet, water fountain, etc. They'll definately expand it out into the parking lot if this is true.

They will have to completely renovate and redo the entire outside of Haywood Mall in order to be anywhere near the level of a SouthPark. As the outside of Haywood is extremely ugly and unattractive. But I do believe they had announced last year that an external renovation to the outside fascade would indeed be forthcoming, including Belk and Macy's. As for Sears and JCPenney, their long term future is perhaps undecided. But at SouthPark in Charlotte, the large Sears was demolished to make way for Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus. Not sure what will eventually happen here, but Simon is acquiring some of the Sears leasing nationwide, possibly indicating its eventual demise and redevelopment. And if Belk is acquired by Macy's, that could possibly open up more space or make room for Bloomingdale's in certain markets, especially Charlotte. But that decision has yet to be determined, and Belk may survive under new ownership.

The only thing Simon has announced was new landscaping and signage on the exterior.
The landscaping has already been redone and new signage at both Haywood entrances. If anything was going to be redone I believe it would have occurred already before the new landscaping and directional signage goes in but who knows.

If it is Panera, I simply think this may just be them relocating to a freestanding location next to Wells Fargo where they can have a drive thru as well. I saw the fenced section today and it looks like they could fit more than Panera in the footprint. Lenscrafter's was part of the hearsay as well which would free up even more space but nothing official from Simon management. What follows in the space vacated could be anyone's guess CF? H&M? could have no plans for it. Guess we will have to wait for an official announcement from them.

If I remember correctly the master plan from like a year or so ago had them adding out a grand entry way on the front of the mall so that's probably what he was referencing.
