So is Fall for Greenville worth attending? We've lived here almost 6 years and never attended because it never meshed with our schedule. From what I gather...it's food tents that you have to buy tickets for, and some concerts? Is that the jist? The pics that pop up on my Facebook feed advertising shows a street PACKED with people...like elbow to elbow. If I am not into pre-spending on food that I then feel obligated to purchase because I already paid for the tickets...and then standing in long lines to do it....then trying to find a place to sit and eat....not a huge music fan especially for local bands I've never heard of...and not big into drinking.......is Fall for Greenville not for me? Is there something better about it that I am missing?
We went 'by accident' last year. We didn't even realize it was going on until we got there with out-of-town guests. The street was packed, and we found our dinner reservation at High Cotton was a welcome respite from the crowds and noise. We're not big fans of huge crowds, so it wasn't for us. I'm sure the food is great, but for the money, I'd rather not eat standing up, out of a styrofoam tray, being jostled by a crowd. Obviously, some folks love it; to each his or her own.
I think it's great. It's an opportunity to try tons of different local food in small increments without going to the restaurant, and lots of different beer.

Agree completely ... lots of good food, and the portions are small enough that there's little risk to try a new place. A couple of our favorite restaurants have come from trying their food at Fall For Greenville.
As for crowds, in our experience it tends to be worse on Saturday, and later into the day. We generally go down early on Saturday or Sunday and the crowds aren't too bad.
I wouldn't miss it but it sounds like you should stay away from downtown that weekend. I also attend Taste of Charlotte in June every year. So I guess I'm a foodie and I find it to be worth the trouble.
We enjoy going because it's an inexpensive way to sample food from a lot of different restaurants. We also enjoy the music. Sounds like it's not an event that the OP would enjoy.

I wouldn't recommend it, i'm not a crowd person and I feel like its a bit pricey for what it is. It was fun when I first moved to the Greenville area. I used to work downtown so I used to have to fight the crowds every year. Now I steer clear.
