The subforum is titled "Greenville - Spartanburg area". The term area is by definition somewhat nebulous. There is a sub-description that lists "Simpsonville - Greer - Easley - Taylors - Mauldin - Duncan", which makes it pretty clear that those are included in the term "area". What is less clear is whether or not outlying communities such as Piedmont, Pelzer, Anderson, Clemson, Pickens, Fountain Inn, Laurens, etc. should be included in the "area". Pretty much all the users of the forum with a single exception feel they should be included.

My definition of Greenville - Spartanburg area would include communities within a reasonable commuting distance (say an hour or less) of either Greenville or Spartanburg. Other people might have another definition. It is perfectly reasonable to have a sound understanding of local geography and consider Anderson to be in the "Greenville - Spartanburg area". Almost anyone with a knowledge of this area understands that the "Upstate" is frequently considered as a single, distinct community. If you are setting up forums for the entire world with little knowledge of the local area, you might not understand that nuance, but most people who are local to this area understand that the area is normally defined as the Upstate.

Again, quit being obtuse, Carolina Knight. You are the only one in this thread who is anal about it.

This is the Upstate forum. The Columbia thread is a Midlands forum, and the Charleston thread is a Lowcountry forum.

Anderson, Clemson, Seneca, Greenwood, Laurens, Gaffney...they all can be rightly discussed here. No one else has a problem with this because we arent taking what CD deems as completely literal.

Hmmm...OK CK...when my wife and I lived in Seneca (actually north of Seneca), my wife would think/dream about Greenville all the time LOL - believe me, the Golden Corner is intimately connected to Greenville - CK, are you from out of state? (again, please complete your location information)

unfortunately, the owners of this website/forum refuse to add any further "geographic" sub-forums (so, "Upstate South Carolina", "Upcountry South Carolina" is out)

now, back on topic...

It would be great if everybody focused on actually helping the op instead of fighting over your own opinions on virtual borders of regions, or whatever it is you're really about.
Seriously.
Yac.

We helped the OP. They expressed the same thing. We just agreed with them.
