The Camelot? If it's the same Camelot theater that's near me (on Antrim Dr.), it's pretty outdated. Level-floor seating, 7 theaters, etc.
I just go to the Regal Hollywood 20 Woodruff Road. It's pretty standard as far as movie theaters go. It's up to date and modern, but I wouldn't say it has any cutting-edge technology or anything. I'm sure they'll put Star Trek in the best sounding theater there, so it'll be good
Have Fun!
P.S. - I WISH there was an IMAX theater around here! I've heard that they're going to make an IMAX-like theater in the Hollywood 20 on Woodruff, but that's not for awhile.
Camelot's big screen is definitely the most advanced in Greenville, technologically speaking. It was completely renovated prior to the latest Star Wars movie, specially built to George Lucas Films' standards. It has true THX audio and crisp DLP video. While it does not have stadium seating, it has comfortable, reclining high back seats and a larger screen than anywhere else locally. I easily prefer it over the crowded and noisy theaters at Hollywood 20 and Cherrydale 16.
Hollywood 20 on Woodruff Road is the highest grossing theater in the Carolinas (NC and SC). It is a good theater and will have whatever movie you want to see. I like the theater at Cherrydale too.
Camelot has been renovated and has gotten good reviews for its screen technology.
A Rave theater is planned for Simpsonville at I-385. I am not sure of the timeline.
Greenville's IMAX is in the planning stages. It was going to be part of the Hollywood 20 on Woodruff Road, but I believe we heard within the last few months that they are looking for an alternate location (to perhaps have more space). Can anyone verify?
Guys, I just went to the Regal website and noticed that both the Hollywood 20 and Cherrydale 16 now have several screens with DLP (digital) projection. Thought the only DLP projection theater in the Upstate was at the Camelot. Of course, this is great news.
Again, am planning to see Star Trek this Saturday. Both of the above theaters will have special times for DLP projection of Star Trek (Movie Theater Showtimes Near 29681).
Questions: Has anybody seen a digitally projected film? Is there much of a difference in DLP projection compared to convention film projection?
