My husband's job was just transferred from New Jersey to Simpsonville, SC and we will be relocating with it. He has been to the area several times on business trips, but never for any extended period of time.

I'd like to ask, where are the best places around Simpsonville to live? We are looking to rent an apartment (pet friendly, since we have two kitties) and would like to be in a low crime, rural - suburban area, with green spaces and parks, but within reasonable driving distance of shopping, dining, etc. As we both love being outdoors, woodland areas for hiking and camping would also be great.

Thanks for any help you can give and feel free to ask any question you may need to to narrow it down further!

Welcome to SC!

We have lived here for almost 3 years now and we love it here.

They have beautiful parks (Heritage Park, Southside Park, Falls Park (in Greenville).

Shopping is convenient, Fairview Rd. has Target, Kohls, Home Depot, lots of restaurants and other stores...Woodruff Rd. has everything, and Haywood Rd is where the mall is.

In my opinion, Five Forks is a nice area, W. Georgia Rd is nice, getting built up with a new medical facility, dental practice, stores, etc.

Best advice is to drive around and find a place that you feel is right for you...Simpsonville is great, and I think you will be happy here!

If you're looking for apartments in/around Simpsonville, there are the Garden District apartments, a new complex just off I-385 and then there's the Arbors at Fairview off Fairview Rd (a major road in Simpsonville with grocery stores, a Target, fast food, small strip centers and even a smaller Belk department store), and The Vinings at Brookfield which is also new and in Mauldin, about 8 min up I-385 towards Greenville from Simpsonville. Anywhere in the Greenville area is within a 25 min drive of nice parks, major shopping, downtown, etc. I think newer complexes have common areas and some have dog walking areas. Hope this helps!

Glad you are choosing my home town. You should like it here. The apartments mentioned are nice and safe. West Georgia Road does not have any apartments as of yet but I think they will be coming soon. Would it be Mayhill NJ that you are coming from?

Did not mean to be nosey. Thought maybe you were part of the Sealed Air/New Jersey/Simpsonville team.

Are you refering to the old farm pond you can see from Harrison Bridge Road near Waterton?
