Can anyone give me some feedback on these area gyms: Looking for a nice place to workout, no single bar atmosphere, some amenities, reasonable.
Powerhouse Gym
Acceleration Sports institute
Coops
Elite Conditioning
Pivotal Fitness
Can't speak for the others but as for Coops do not waste your money. Was a member from April 2011 to April 2012 (was suppose to be July 2012)
a.) constantly hassled by trainers to sign up to their program. they hunt like sharks these people do so they can charge you more on top of what you're already spending. The program costs beyond what anyone would even be able to afford so most get you on the once a week plan which is still pricey and do nothing more than eval you each week to see how you're doing.
b.) too crowded
c.) was advertised as 24/7 and it's not.
d.) was sold on a 15 month membership at a 12 month price and during the 12th month they called me and said my membership was expiring and i said they had signed me to a 15 month membership for a 12 month cost and the lil girl had no clue what i was talking about.
Total Fitness will host a ground breaking ceremony this weekend to kick-off its next phase of expansion on S.C. 81 between Powdersville and Wren. The new multi-level building will include a full-size indoor basketball court, an indoor pool, cardio theater, group sports aerobic arena, wi-fi cafe & lounge, personal training studio, and more.
The master plan includes a regulation collegiate football field, 400M regulation 8-lane track, a new regulation outdoor basketball court, two regulation little league baseball fields, a new concession building, and a regulation tennis court.
Speaking of collegiate football field, Clemson practices at the Greenville Rec Center Ice Hockey Rink--the Pavillion. The Rec center has a lot of amenities too:tennis courts, indoor track; roller skating too if I'm not mistaken; ping-pong, Badminton, VolleyBall,,,,and much more Home - Greenville Rec
Personally for the price and that they have a health advisor who meets with you every 8 weeks I like the Y. Lots of old men though ;-), at least at mine.
Anytime Fitness is planning to open a new gym on March 15 in Downtown Greenville. They are currently upfitting the first floor of the new 100 East Washington Street apartment building, which sits one short block away from Main Street.

I like them so far. Joined at the one in Simpsonville. Membership can be used at any of them. Truly 24/7.

I'm at the Simpsonville location, too. Very pleased.
