How to date a HK pistol. On the left side of the slide you will see two letters. A=0, B=1, C=2, D=3, E=4, F=5, G=6, H=7, I=8, K=9. By putting those two letters together you can date code your HK pistol. I wiped my serial # like I always do for forums but left the date code. You can see mine was made in (AH) '07 on my USP .40 fullsize. I bought it new in '07. Many HK nuts want to know this. This is just a heads up for you when you list it for sale or need to answer more questions.
Yeah...but the NS's are likely pretty weak by now, which negates the value. As others have noted, "rare" is a loose term - you have to look at total production run, etc.
I'd say if you get a solid $750 offer, take it. The $1000 offer you shoulda jumped all over. I'm somewhat of a collector, so I keep a pretty good eye on the market, and the range noted is about what you should expect.

I sold a stainless USP fullsize .45 back in about '03 for $750. Mine had night sights and was about 98%. She might get up to $875 for it now. If it has the upgrade LEM trigger in it, definately so. They don't give HKs away anymore.
Current BB is about what - $615 in 98%? Fullsize has a higher BB value than the compact. Current 98% BB for the USP Fullsize is about $675, and NS's add $107 - so you were right at top dollar. Like anything else, some added value may be placed upon a give gun by a buyer, but that's uncommon in standard guns. Some guns appreciate, others don't. Some simply hold their own - which isn't really a bad thing either, when you consider that most other things you buy drop in value like a rock (try selling a 5 year old TV some time).

This is straight out of the 28th Edition (an old one) page 815. $775 @ 100%...$615 @ 98%...$510 @ 95%...$440 @ 90%. Copyright 2007. This book is five years old.

Reason: spelling
The economy is in the crapper. Prices from 2001 or 2007 are outdated. Firearms are up and down on prices. I just sold two carbines for twice what I paid new for in 1998. All you can do is put it out there with a price and listen. GunBroker.com will give you a good idea of worth.

That's right! Book price is only a baseline. I just found out that indeed 2009 was the last of the stainless USPs. How bad does some guy want one? Prices adjust accordingly. For the record, I haven't seen any "like new" HKs selling for 600 bucks anywhere! "Hey, I'll trade you a kick in the d___ and some chewed bubblegum for it?" No Sir...I'm holding out on my price. Some people always make lowball offers on stuff in hopes to find a sucker.
