Sold my Kimber tactical II Pro because it would not reliably feed HP ammo. Fist magazine in my Glock was a mix of ball, HP, Wad cutter and .45snake shot. It ate everything I threw down the magazine!
I own and have carried a G27 for more than 10 years.
The only changes that have been made to the weapon at the time of purchase were a set of Tru Dot night sights, an extended slide release and a Pearce grip extension.
I wouldn't trade it for any carry weapon that I can think of and this is from someone who has carried:
H&K P7
Sig P220 (.45)
Sig p228
Sig p230
Ruger SP101
Colt Python (4 inch)
Springfield Armory (fully customized sub-compact .45)
Kimber Classic Stainless (.45 the only one that I miss, a lot).
(On second thought, if someone offered me a Springfield TRP...)
I was just reading an article in a magazine about why you shouldn't rack the magazine with anything besides your other hand... I never even knew people tried to do that and would never attempt it myself. I prefer to have complete control over the weapon.
While this is preferred, sometimes your other hand may not be available, which was the reason the instructor mentioned racking the slide on your jeans. He was not suggesting this as a standard practice, but rather as an act of urgency. In the case he gave, it was in a defensive shooting situation, where the shooter could not rack the slide because their other arm was broken from being attacked.

My question would be why is there not a round already in the chamber.
exactly why there is always a round in the chamber of every one of my guns
except the AK-47. I'm new to that one and need to get to know it a little better before I leave it in that condition. The magazine is attached, though, and there are 30 little Russians at the ready
and to make this Glock related, I'd call an AK the Glock of semi-auto rifles. Put ammo in, pull trigger, and it goes bang every time. It won't win a beauty contest, but it's always got your back.
I have duty carried the GL 19, switched to GL 22, switched to GL 17, and finally switched to HK P2000. All switches were done by agency, not me! I love Glocks for their simplistic ease and use. I own two, and won't ever get rid of them.
