I am in dire need of some Crab Cakes in particular in the Norfolk, VA area. Looking for a restaurant that sells them (Yes I know you can make them @ home). But I am looking for a restaurant or bar (Preferably not a chain like Jose's Crab Shack). Prefer them each to be 10 Ounces or better. All-Lump, No Filler.

Born and Raised in Maryland..So they must be good. Any recommendations?

Thanks

We love the ones at the Surfrider next to Taylor's Landing. Very little filler.

Yeah, they are 5 or 6 ounces. They are not traditional crab cakes. They're served in a dish. Surf Rider has awesome crab dip and calamari also. It's a great place to sit at the bar for dinner. All of the bartenders (esp. Brenda) are really friendly and everyone that's spent the day fishing comes in for a drink and to chat.

I am also a transplant from Maryland. Ocean City area. I have not been able to find any place that can match in the way of crabcakes or seafood dishes.
I will have to try out grape nut recommendation!

I end up traveling back to OC several times a year to bring back MD lump crab to make them at home.

Well mermaid then perhaps you are familiar with The Captains Galley in Crisfield. It has turned into a full restaurant some years ago but they used to have an outdoor window where you could order crab cakes and eat outside. They bragged that each crab cake had the meat of 8 crabs with no filler. Now you have to go inside to get these awesome crab cakes.

I miss going there. We used to travel from Chesapeake to Crisfield at least once a month just to make a day of it and eat crab cakes.

It was right on 413 at the very end, last restaurant on the left before falling into the water. I dont think I ever found a better crab cake in Hampton Roads.

The best crab cakes in HR area is Croakers on Shore Drive, just before the Lesner Bridge. Open at 5pm daily. They are a family owned restaurant and you will love it!
