Hello,

In October, we are relocating to Mechanicsburg area from the island of Oahu, HI.
We will be expecting a baby shortly after, and have 2 big dogs- a dane and a lab.
We are used to a REALLY active neighborhood- lots of running, active, friendly people who are dog friendly.

So basically, I am looking for a gay friendly active neighborhood with a good school district. Looking to buy, but will rent if we can't find something right away. I looked at the New Cumberland area and thought that school district looked really nice. Can anyone else give me some insight on this?

Thanks,
K

I don't really about the quality of the various school districts here but if you're looking for a gay friendly neighborhood Midtown Harrisburg would be a good area to check out.

Although I've never lived in Harrisburg, I've visited it many times and patronized some of the gay establishments in the Keystone State's capital city. My impression is that Harrisburg itself is gay friendly (they have an LGBT center and an annual "Pride Fest" on the river) ... but that the surrounding towns and rural areas are much more conservative.

We live in a super location, Mechanicsburg. The street we live on (Sheepford Rd) has the best of everything... close to shopping, commuter routes (route 15, 81). It's an older neighborhood with beautiful trees, quiet and private lots with a lot of neighbors running with their dogs. We live in the best school district, Westshore. I love our neighbors. Everyone is welcome!
