HI! I'm looking to move to Hawaii soon...never been but like to move places site unseen. I'm 25 and am not opposed to living in a rural place - beach shack (close to a town) or in a town itself - not an apartment/condo. I want to find a place that has good surf/beaches, good food/culture, and the best place for someone my age to live. Whats the best place to move? I hear Lahaina is nice but really have no idea haha. Also, need a job of course. Thanks so much

Invest some time reading the back posts here. All your questions have been answered many times already.

And then... plan on exploring as much as you can. Nobody but you can really answer those questions but you.

Try Haleiwa on Oahu. That has the best beaches for surfing.

hahahahaha there is no such thing as a beach shack close to town. sorry man....your gonna have to get pretty far away from town if you want the beach shack. majority of all the work your probably gonna find will be in town....so unless you wanna have the beach shack, and make the commute into town you should re-consider. btw, areas with that type of lifestyle (beach shack type stuff), the commute is usually 1 hour each way depending on where you live. Oahus traffic is terrible....they did a study and Oahu has the 2nd worse traffic in the United States next to Los Angeles.

There's gotta be some sort of burger flipper type job in Haleiwa. It doesn't sound like he's trying for a very expensive sort of lifestyle. He'll probably end up sleeping on someone's couch and borrowing their surf board for the summer.

Ya hotzcatz can it be done... Ya with all right circumstance. Find a nice beach shack with surf and woman and live mainland style. NOPE. The other day I met on street the reincarnated Cain... he claimed by his cane. He has been bumming around hitck hiking finding someone to take him in for a year now. Started off in Maui.

But to find a place with a palm covered roof and all the locals like you. Uhmmm and finding a "friend" which ever you play. Chances as a mainlander slim but it can be done. Just don't expect any mainland life or lifestyle unless you have a trust fund. Good luck.

Nah, North Shore has a huge transient population and loads of twenty somethings come out for the surf. If he's into surfing, he will find a niche somewhere there. Might be one of ten guys living in a run down house or apartment with loads of surfboards and scrabbling for whatever income they can find, but for a twenty something it's a good learning experience. If he is living out of a suitcase it's easy enough to relocate if things don't work out, too. DDDCCCBBB, get a round trip airfare ticket and have the return date as far away as you can arrange it. If things don't work out, you will have an exit strategy.
