Unfortunately never seen a moving company without it's share of bad reviews. As PacificFlights noted, everything here will be subcontracted anyway, and out of control of whoever you paid on the mainland.

My suggestions:
1. When moving truck arrives here, DO NOT sign the acceptance form until they open that truck and you get a look inside. That's BEFORE the local movers start moving anything. The truck driver will insist you sign, but tell him no, hand him a cold can of Coke, and ask him to open it up. Then hop up on the back and TAKE PHOTOS. Even if you don't see any damage, take lots of photos. That way if anything is broken later, you can decide if it was in the transport or the local unpackers. Those are very different claims, and only photos will back you up. It's a good idea to take pictures all during the unload, of the stuff still in the truck, and then as it gets moved into the house, then in place in the house. Again, you want photos to back up any claims.

2. If anything is damaged, take more photos of it and anything that surrounded it.

3. Everyone will be hot and cranky and tired, so you keep your cool. Insist on careful handling, time for photos. Hand out cold beverages. Tip the workers.

One of our new neighbors on Maui had offered to bring in guys to unload. Only one of 3 turned up, and he got sick and left early. That left the neighbor and his wife helping us unload. Took longer, we did more than we planned, and lots of things ended up piled in the garage instead of the right rooms. Lesson learned: have a better backup plan, and make sure whoever is doing the unloading really has the resources. If you don't have enough people show up to unload, consider postponing a day.
