My dad's family is from Rochester, and I spent eight years of my childhood there (in Henrietta). I haven't been back since 1972. Why would you want to give up the bracing, robust, varied weather of Rochester for the monotonous climate of Hawaii? :-) Seriously, Rochester's Siberian winters were the primary reason my parents decided to move our family south. I do remember Upstate New York being beautiful, though, and I fondly remember Coney Island white hot dogs, which were more common in Rochester and Buffalo than in Coney Island.
