Costco sells powdered milk for the same price per gallon as regular milk. What's up with that?

Generally powdered milk mixes 1/3 with water for use, making the final beverage 1/3 the cost of fluid milk.

I meant per gallon of final product, not per gallon of powder. I was going to buy a box to save money, then I did the math.

I guess even though it's the same price it's much more convenient for people living out in Hana etc. When my dad had a cocoa farm in Trinidad we were out in the middle of nowhere so we used powdered milk. I think I remember a toy being mixed into the milk. Now that would make it worthwhile.

Stop buying milk. That will save the most money.

Milk is a bargain for the nutrition you get, even at $3.50/gal.

Some nutritional experts would dispute that point with you, arguing that dairy is actually quite hazardous to many people's health.

For those unfamiliar with the controversy, I'll post just a single reference to the opposing view. If you're interested in learning more, there's plenty of material available on the internet.

The Waimea Mid-Week Farmer's Market has moved from Anna's Ranch to the Pukalani Stables behind Parker Ranch center. The market is open on Wednesdays from 11 to 5. They want most everything locally grown and made, too.

Is that what milk actually costs over in Maui! It's $2.99 here, so $3.50 isn't bad at all.

Oddly enough, when I went to Ontario last summer, I saw that milk was almost $6 a gallon. I told my friend that alone is enough to keep me from wanting to move to Canada, even with the free health care, as I gotta have my milk

But yeah, anywhere I go, I always check the price of milk, as I know if it's cheap, everything else probably is too. If milk is high, so will everything else.
