As for what to stock up on, the Big Three in Hawaii is:

1. Rice
2. Spam
3. Toilet paper

Nothing much else really matters, I guess.

Yeah, there just doesn't seem to be the usual sort of shelf clearing buying panic that a even a hint of a dock strike seems to create. Wonder what's up with that? Are folks already stocked up, do you think? We actually need rice, but we will only get the usual 20# bag and not multiple bags or anything. Although we don't buy much at retail rates if we can help it but the only lack of anything I've noticed has been at the feed store. They said the container was delayed, but they still had some stuff, just not as much as usual. That's actually kind of a normal answer for a lot of things and are we even noticing the slow down? Frequently you go to the store and they are out of something and the container hasn't arrived yet.

Hawaii is exempt from the strike.

Is it JUST a coincidence that the toilet paper comes directly after the SPAM? Is there some kind of a logical order to the sequence, an 'If A then B' scenario? Or were you referring to SPAM Lite, because, that would make more sense. After all, who really knows what goes into regular SPAM to begin with, and what the hell do they take out of the stuff to qualify it as being 'Lite'. Maybe it glows in the dark? I'll have to get back to you on that one.

The work slowdown or whatever you want to call it is impacting Hawaii. A lot of products such as livestock feed and supplies, hay etc is only coming in as partial shipments, late, etc. I don't know if it is from direct or indirect reasons, however I know farmers other than just myself that are having to make substitutions or go without some products which is not always good for the animals.

I can get rice, spam, and toilet paper delivered via amazon prime. A half ton of livestock feed... not so much.

Until they close again. You have zero grasp of what's going on here. Yesterday our port closed over union workers' insistence that Sunday work is optional. That's our news-- reported from on site. You can quote Hawaii news all day long. That doesn't mean it's true to what's actually going on here.

You do realize this is the Hawaii forum and Hawaii receives little goods from Portland ports. Most come from Long Beach or the Bay Area, followed by Seattle.

. Source?
You do realize that you said "all the ports are open," and you do realize that you were wrong. And surely you do realize that news reporters often spin things. Your Hawaii news source is not presenting the big picture. But of course you insist on deflecting from the fact that you you stated something wrong, because your ego is so overblown in this forum.
