Why did you bring up race? Why did Cook deserve to die? Was your post meant to be humorous or was it just poorly thought out?

It's racist because it's racist. Your race and your racism are separate things.

Cook deserved to die because he was an aristocratic nationalist with little regard for other ethnicities. Sure, according to history he isn't the demonic force that columbus was, but based off what I've read, he got his just deserts. Also, white isn't a race, try again.

Cook probably would have been better off if he had been just dessert.

Aloha

I guess we needed a third choice. As in, not thought out at all. Im sure you take delight standing on your soapbox of revisionist history and doling out your judgments as if the propaganda that spews the white patriarchy nonsense has merit. Whatever floats your dinghy.

Spam mo'betta as musubi.

There were several journals written during Cook's last voyage and the 'official' ones at the English naval office don't match the ones written by the Russian doctor who was also on the voyage. According to the one in the naval office, it was an unprovoked attack, according to the journal by the Russian doctor, Cook had either struck or grabbed the local chief and the automatic reaction from the warriors surrounding the chief was to defend the chief from his attacker.

There was something in the journal about the natives stealing a ship's boat (dinghy, although I think it was a pretty big dinghy) and Cook was planning on holding the chief hostage for the return of the boat. Why may have been why he grabbed the chief. So Cook wasn't killed on purpose, it was in reaction to something he'd done that wasn't well thought out.

After Cook was dead, they prepared his body the same way they did their own out of respect but customs differ and that was another misunderstanding.

FWIW, I once read a book on various funeral customs throughout history and some of them were downright bizarre. Which just illustrates what one society considers 'normal' another society can find appalling. Death makes a lot of folks uneasy to begin with and that would then make even more room for misunderstandings.
