This is an even if - even if Covid is more deadly than the flu - it is what it is.

If you are under 70 - and don't have underlying conditions - you have a 99% chance of survival.

Even if - even if you are 70 and over, you have a 95% chance of survival

I was amazed to see these figures on Fox the other day.

Should Hawaii start lifting restrictions for certain islands?-covid-survival-fox-9-28-20

Praying they're accurate, anyway

It's the best current guess, probably pretty darned close.

The older age group death rate is actually pretty high.

It's a nasty virus, very contagious and definitely more lethal than seasonal flu. Does this justify keeping the islands shut down? In my opinion, No.

Open with precautions.

If 90% of the population has not yet been exposed, these are simply guesstimates.

But more likely to go down rather than up over time, due to improving treatments. Fatality rate in Europe has gone down 60% across all age groups currently, compared to early Spring.

There is speculation that as this virus mutates, it is becoming less virulent.

Let's hope so!

Even if it doesn't - more and more treatments will be coming to market over the upcoming months.

I really hope the dogs trained to sniff out Covid become widely available. Airports, schools, restaurants, train stations, concert venues, etc. could employ them.

Rub your neck with a disposable wipe which the dog sniffs and you find out the results instantly. (Apparently dogs and cats can catch Covid but it has no effect on them.)

Once everyone has been exposed the dogs could be retrained for drug or perhaps cancer detection, unless it turns out that we can be commonly re-infected. If so, they will probably be utilized from now on.

So, if we assume there are 77,000,000 in the 50-69 age group and assume we all are going to be exposed/infected eventually and .005% DIE then that is 385,000 deaths in just that age group. Boy that really jumps up at age 70! Then you are getting close to 4,000,000 deaths!

Well - no.

We all won't get it.

and 385,000 is .5% not .005%

Hopefully you don't have Neanderthal genes

Scientists say genes that some people have inherited from their Neanderthal ancestors may increase their likelihood of suffering severe forms of COVID-19.
