I suggest that you look at the Matson and Pasha websites. They will help you determine what size container you will need for the amount of household goods, then give you a price for door to door shipping.

We went with Matson in 2010. We had the container delivered to our house, had a local moving company load the container, then Matson delivered it to our house in Na'alehu and we had some local guys unload it for us.

Smallest ABF Relocube from port to port (I hired movers to load it at the port - best money I ever spent): Tacoma to Honolulu was about $3,000 in June of 2012.

Per a GOOGLE search: The interior dimensions are approximately 70" x 82" x 93" (DWH).

Yes,
I'm awaiting a reply from various folks including abf, matson and pasha! I was more interested in know if the PP had completely filled his cube and that was the cost or does it matter whether it full or not, the price is purely based by the size of the cube. Thanks.

The price is per container, within limits. Standard ISO shipping containers that Matson and Horizon use are 8' x 8 1/2' x 20' or x 40'. A 20' port to port, with a 65,000 maximum cargo weight is around $3,000. Handling at each end is extra.

ABF Relocubes and PODS are sub-container sizes, and are typically shipped inside a standard ISO container, so they actually cost more. But they are a more convenient size for many consumers to deal with, and their pickup and delivery service is user friendly so they are popular.

Mahalo!

Just as we were posting back and forth I got an email from Matson. There quote for my household less the car was approx $6500, but that's door to door from San Diego to Oahu.

Which is not a lot of space. The typical household would have to really strip down to almost nothing to get all their stuff into such a small container.
