Yes, every time my husband calls, he is on hold for a minimum of 45 min, and then the call gets “dropped”. We are both registered nurses so we know “the system”, but find it difficult to navigate. Thank you for your advice.
Since he is working as a nurse he probably has private insurance and may not have to enroll in Medicare at age 65. He should talk to his HR department and find out what happens with his company health insurance when he turns 65.
I called Nationwide to ask how to go about changing to their HD-G plan. The rep I spoke with was not helpful - she was only able to tell me to leave my phone number and she would have an agent call me, within 3 to 5 days! I didn't want to wait for a phone call, and she couldn't give me the phone number of an agent.
Eventually, I went back to the Nationwide website and filled in the form to have an agent call me. I was pleasantly surprised when a local agent called me within an hour!! He was friendly, knowledgeable and willing to walk me through the entire application process (I made it a bit more complicated by insisting that I initiate payments to the insurance company, rather than giving them authorization to access to my bank account.)
Within an hour I had mailed him my signed application. I am pleased!
