Here in Florida you have 14 days to seek medical care after a car accident, after that your insurance company doesn't have to pay dime for your medical bills.

My thought is that anybody does have the right to health care as well as the right to refuse health care. Individual decision to be made.

If you go to the hospital emergency room, you will be exposed to every kind of disease imaginable. Not only that, but you will, most likely, be subjected to many different "tests" which could actually be harmful to you (not to mention expensive).

Most serious injuries get worse instead of better. If you find that during the next 12 - 24 hours that your symptoms worsen in any way (reduced vision, ringing in your ears or muffled hearing, severe head aches, etc.) then you should contact your doctor (if you have one) or go to a "walk in clinic". If however, your symptoms slowly improve and do not worsen, most likely you will be find without medical intervention. Mind you this is just my opinion, and I am not a doctor or medical professional.

There have been people who have died after minor accidents (google "steve allen" for example). And there are people who survive serious injuries without medical intervention. If you are worried about it, go to the doctor. As one of the other posters noted, if it turns out that you have problems down the road from this accident, it will be harder to "collect" on the other party if you don't have any medical record of going to the doctor after the wreck. If this is a potential concern, then you might want to go just to get a check out.

It eventually cost him his job because he was sick and got allot worse because he ignored it and worked--until his body said no, and recovery at that point was too difficult and long that his job was no longer there.

Totally agree. Foolish. If you are not at fault, the other driver's insurance could have been billed for your medical expenses. The longer you wait, the more evidence the insurance company has that there was no cause-effect relationship. If you start to have chronic back or neck pain down the road due to the accident, you can't prove it was due to the accident.
