I got that on Nov 4, along with my grandson and husband. Vomiting every 15 min for 12 hours. Diarrhea and continued nausea for 5 days, and the woozy/lightheaded/weak is still happening. The rest of the family is fine, but I still feel horrible. I have never been so sick for so long. Really, really run down for months and months, so that probably contributed.
Funny story, though, I had foot surgery 2 days earlier, and couldn't walk. At first I would use my crutches to get to the bathroom, but after about 5 hours I was too weak for that, so I had to crawl to the bathroom. At the time I thought I was in HELL, but looking back, it's kind of funny now.
Going to the doc soon if I don't get better. Starting on Colloidal Silver today, that always does well for me.
Rotavirus - bad, very bad thing to get. Last year Christmas vacation, literally my entire household and all visitors caught it. Traced it back to my infant girl who brought it home from a large playdate gathering just before the holiday. Here's the deal - if it is rotavirus or noravirus (basically the same thing in my mind) it is passed to other people initially via a microscopic amount of fecal matter or vomit (or food touched by either). You get it by consuming it orally. You don't see symptoms until 24 hours, and then it's too late. You need to disinfect everything in your house very well to really eliminate it (you can get it again!). That is easier said than done because of the amount of vomiting, and if you have children, diaper-diarrhea or accidents. Be certain to disinfect all toys, linens, furniture, clothing, blankets, etc.
Honestly, there was nothing we could do to have made things better when my household got it. Nothing stayed down for about 2-3 days per person and all anyone wanted to do was sleep.
Best advice I have heard and now implemented since... wash your kids hands before bringing them inside from outside (anywhere) religiously. Also make certain you wash your own hands well with antibacterial soap often throughout the day. It may appear OCD... but Rotavirus or Noravirus are so unfun, I think one infection is enough for my lifetime.
we are ocd in general BUt I do know my nephew got pased around on Thanksgiving and he had something a week or two ago. They were down a few days w/ throw-up and what not. We(the 9 of us that got it on Thanksgiving) were all only throwing up for 5-6 hours(only HA!) ....havent since. My house has been totally disinfected down to the curtains and carpets. I even washed the dog
My husband and I have both noticed that we are tired alot, have werid stomach aches during the day and our appetites are very low as food doesn't sound good right now
Thanks for all the info.
I'm not sure what we have, but its not fun.
My son had this and of course, gave it to me and my dh. Never been so sick in many years. Yes it lasts a long time and totally drains you. I had taken my son to the dr for a shot to stop his throwing up. She gave me a prescription for phenegryn if I needed it later on. Never got to fill it before we got sick. My dh was so sick he called his mom and does not remember it. He camped out in his bathroom and I camped out in mine. His mom found the prescription and filled it for us 10 hours after we got sick. It knocked us out but when we woke up felt better. But, stomach was weird for a couple weeks, could not eat much and it hurt when we did. Taste was not right either. It does get better.

our stomaches hurt at night. I'm having a tricky time cooking, because nothing sounds good. I cooked noodles last night, it made our tummies happy!

A lot of this sounds like flu symptoms and it is making itself known in many states already and I am pretty sure that at least one that was mentioned, Mississippi, was seeing cases. I have a lot of Facebook friends that are reporting flu or flu-like symptoms now too so something is going around.
We had the flu over Christmas break many years ago. It was as bad as many have described, with the weak feeling lingering for weeks. Hope everyone feels better soon. Going for my flu shot next week; hoping I don't get sick before it takes effect.

I, too, hope you don't get sick before it takes effect; the information insert says immunity can take up to two weeks to develop after receiving the vaccine. The example of your case is an excellent argument for not procrastinating about getting the shot. In most areas of the country the vaccine becomes available during October. That's the time to get it, year after year after year, without trying to figure out if there is an outbreak in your area. (By the way, that's not my personal advice, but the advice of the CDC, and they ought to know.)
