Just found this and thought I'd share it here. I still stand with MY position on these. Had 2 in my early 50's and none since and I'm 78. Having faith in OPC's and Iodine.

Default Study questions value of mammograms in detecting cancer

It is so confusing when things like this are published. I have friends who swear they are alive only because a mammogram detected cancer and they were able to get early treatment.. I'm 70 years old and I will continue to get them for a few more years and then that's it.

My sister didn't have mammograms, and she died of breast cancer. I always wonder if she'd be with us today if she'd had her cancer detected in time to be treated.

It's hard to know about your sister, my mom never had one and lived to 91, no mamms and no BC. We all go with our decisions. Most do not take OPC's and work with iodine for breast health.

I have a similar posting in Daily Journals. I'm 78 and had 2 in early 50's and none since. In my 50's I started my journey in alternative medicine and read a lot about these tests.

There are so many stats out there and who to believe is a toss up. Someone reported 88% of the women do NOT develop BC with or without mamms. Another friend believes they do more harm than good. They just don't feel like the right thing to do FOR ME...I've read a lot over 20 yrs and work to keep my breasts healthy in other ways.

I have a good friend in her early 50s who is the picture of health, exercised frequently, ate mostly plant-based organic diet and had no history of breast cancer in her family. Went for a routine mammogram and they found early stage breast cancer which was fortunately curable. Her routine screening saved her life.

I wonder if your friend dosed with iodine for breast health. So many have stories on this issue.

Jaminhealth, it has to do with your genes, not iodine or OPC's. Breast cancer runs in families, as does diabetes.

Your ideas and advice on healthcare really should go on an alternate/herbal/some other kind of forum, as your ideas do not coincide with scientific studies.

I hate to think that someone with a family history of breast cancer or diabetes would see your posts and take your advice to heart rather than proven scientific evidence and advice from the medical community.

There, I said it.
