I guess it will forever blow me away WHY so many people opt for these. I considered one many years ago when I was still in my "wilder life" and ended up doing a small henna that was gone in short while.

Talk about possible infections with these tatts.

I've seen some "pretty" ones on a young lady, one covering her shoulder, but still the possibility of infection.

Um... yes.

Anytime you insert needles into your body you risk infection if things are not done properly. Like you knee, same concept.

DH has a 4 tattoos some of them on the larger side. He never had any problem with infections.

As with anything like this, go to reputable establishments.

Heck, I give myself shots twice a week and make sure everything stays sterile.

I have 2 tattoos that I love and I have had zero issues with them. People that are interested in getting a tattoo need to research the shops to make sure they follow all the safety protocols.

Things happen and yes my knee was a shocker. I gave myself injections for years too with allergy issues. Glad that is the long lost past. I'm still not a fan of tattooing.

No problems with mine, either. My mother got her tattoo at age 60, with no issue 14 years later.

I am probably going to get another one soon. Research on reputable shops, as noted above, is key. Bad outcomes can happen from a lot of things, including walking to the mailbox (me this past February -- broke my ankle when I slipped on ice.)

The beauty of tattoos, like many things, is that if one doesn't like them, one doesn't have to get one.

I worked with a guy that was the classic poser. He decides to get a huge red dragon tattoo on his leg (side of calf). This was odd placement for a guy that wore shorts to work almost every day. Tattoo goes fine, 2 weeks later it starts to bubble. Turns out he was allergic to the red ink! The tattoo is totally deformed, skin resembled a bad burn and he is stuck with that for life!

I like good art, I think a well placed tattoo with meaning for the owner is cool. "Sticker" tats randomly placed done for no specific reason is stupid especially if they can be seen!

Needless to say the "red dragon" was ridiculed for years!

A friend of mine had an allergic reaction to the red ink used in her tattoo. It was horrible. Apparently, it's not that uncommon.

But it's their body, so people have the right to do whatever they want to it. People get infections from ear piercing.
