Many states are opening back up but a lot of health officials have indicated that it is too soon; the virus has not yet flattened, and we will likely see a rise in cases and deaths becaue states have begun aggressive reopening efforts already. For those who have states that have opened or are opening soon, what are your plans? Texas is opening many businesses next week but my wife and I are furloughed. There is no mask requirement and we believe it is too soon. We will remain at home under self quarantine until either more time has passed or we are called back to work. What do you think? If you have the option, do you believe it is safe to get back to normal?

Nope. And I'm sure that plenty others won't be either.
I just returned home from Costco. Tight quarters indeed. At checkout it was really bad, crammed into a lane with people stacked on top of one another, surrounded by plexi-glass. Where can I go that would be worse than that? = NOWHERE.
It's worse than standing at a packed craps table in a Vegas mega strip casino; which I would do tomorrow if I could.
I'm not afraid at all tho since I'm the healthiest dude around. The virus wouldn't stand a chance against me.
Yeah I don't understand the point of that. I went to Wal-Mart the other day and it's a super Wal-Mart and for whatever reason, they closed down a full giant area of self-checkout and only had one open and everyone was packed into one area instead of just keeping the other lanes open to make more space. Makes no sense.
But yeah, I'll most likely be going out. I'm not gonna live my life in fear. I can easily catch a flu, or easily die or get sick otherwise.
I'm turning 70 this week, and my wife's 72. She's had pneumonia twice in recent years but had surgery for a hiatal hernia to solve the problem. I am a type 2 diabetic although I appear much younger and move very well.
But I suspect we'll stay out of the public for much of the Summer. There's plenty of time to get back into society later. We're listening to the problem places and who's dying of the virus--and it's us and people like us.
I feel like Illinois will be one of the last states to open... but if they opened up right now, I'd go out in a heartbeat and not think twice about it. I'm very low risk and the virus doesn't scare me at all. I refuse to live my life in fear.
Heck, if I had the wherewithal and the money in the bank, I would move out of this state TOMORROW to one where the Governor has common sense and is opening things back up, within reason and with safety guidelines. Our pitiful Governor hasn't got a clue what people are going through. I'm not afraid for me, or my family, to get out there and start living again. We'll take our chances - safety without freedom is NOT safety. Unfortunately, we're stuck here for now. May pay a visit to family shortly in Georgia though pretty soon so that I can get a freakin' haircut!
I’m going to the grocery store every two weeks or so, and maybe I’ll pick up some takeout (haven’t done that yet, though). When the city parks, botanical garden, and zoo reopen I’ll visit them as long as I can keep well away from others. But that’s all I plan on doing until late summer (at the earliest).
I live in Texas and I'm in no hurry to do anything more than a weekly trip to the grocery store during off hours and occasional take-out tacos.
My mechanic will be opening and I'll take my car in for routine service, since that seems like a pretty low-risk activity and I want to support him. Maybe let the car sit there in the hot sun for a couple days before picking it up so any viruses are killed.
I used to swim laps four or five days a week and I miss it a lot. But lap swimming seems to be a pretty high-risk activity since you could be forcefully exhaling right into another swimmer's face. Maybe they'll let me pay extra to have three lanes to myself?
We are reopening, I will not be rushing out to get back to 'normal'.
March 23 -Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has issued a "safer at home" order for the entire state.
April 2 - Gov. Bill Lee has issued a new executive order requiring that Tennesseans stay home unless they are carrying out essential activities as data shows citizens are not staying at home.
Previously, Lee had only “strongly urged” people to stay at home, saying he was stopping short of a statewide mandate because he wanted to “protect personal liberties.”
April 28 -The current order is set to expire on April 30, lifting some restrictions which previously affected public gatherings and businesses in the retail and restaurant sectors. Restaurants were able to open at 50% capacity on Monday and will be followed by retail on Wednesday and gyms on Friday.
Gov. Lee says he is confident businesses and citizens will follow the "Tennessee Pledge," guidelines reflecting the best practices in continuing to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Because they followed the first set of guidelines so well?
I am not at all encouraged by the behaviors I have seen around me over the last month and I fully expect people to go completely back to pre-virus standards within days. Too many typhoid Marys who don't grasp how their actions can affect others.
My wife has diabetes and chronic kidney disease. I’ve already witnessed last rites performed for her once. I don’t want a repeat. I will be extremely cautious until there’s a vaccine. It’s not that hard for me I’ve never liked crowds. My life won’t have to change much.
I do need to figure out how to get a haircut soon.
