In CA where 95% of Covid deaths are elderly, a 90 year old, not living in a nursing home, can go fly a kite.

Not sure what your comment means, but a neighbor who is 93, lives alone at home, and healthy overall, all the OA issues of aging and hip surgeries, and she may or may not get the vax...she has been suffering for over 3 months with side effects of the shingles vax she chose to take. She takes all the immune supplements and more and is good there...

Same where I live. My apt complex is for people over 60 but most are in their 70s or 80s, some are early 90s. These people are responsible for themselves, live alone, and are very limited in the kinds of things they dare to do. They're tired of only seeing grandchildren on Zoom and they'd like to get out. Not to mention postponed surgeries, physical therapy, and being afraid to go to a dental or doctors appointment. I guess they have to go live in a nursing home to get the vaccine? How much longer!

Texas has extended 1B to everyone 65 and older, and declared that places administering the vaccine can begin vaccinating group 1B, which would be great except that we don't actually have enough vaccine to do that.

I'm curious what they're going to do in 4 weeks when they not only move on to another group but have to administer the 2nd shot to those who already got it. Basically, as we move on in the process, the number of shots that need to be administered is going to go up almost exponentially.

In Florida, the individual counties are responsible for administering the vaccine, and it's now available to people 65 and over. Some counties are doing it on a first-come-first-served basis, which I think leads to chaos. Fortunately my county is doing it by appointment. It took me over two hours to get registered on the county's website last week, but I was able to get an appointment for this coming Tuesday.

Well, that didn't last long. I just got an email alert that our county already has more appointments than it has vaccine for.

I see recommendations for those over 65...then somewhat later (phase 3) for young adults 18-30 and kids...what about 30-65 year olds?!
