Did any of you take it for heart disease or manly for high BP? I’m 46, trying to loose 40 lbs, type 2 diabetic, on Metformin, also on cholesterol meds, and levothyroxine for hypothyroidism. Take Nexium as well I’m not young be feel too young to have many problems. I do try and exercise at least 30 minutes a day and have done it regularly for almost 20 years. I’m constantly watching my Fitbit and my heart rate is frequently in the 90’s and sometimes up to 105 when I’m getting ready in the morning or taking the dogs out etc....sometimes in the middle of the night it’s in the 90’s but sometimes the 70’s. My Fitbit says my resting heart rate is 75 to 79 during my period and around 80 to 85 when not. I don’t sleep well at all. No trouble falling asleep but up 3 or 4 hours later. My Fitbit says I only sleep about 5 to 6 hours. I’m always worried about things. And have terrible OCD.
Go on a keto/fasting diet and it will cure your Type 2 diabetes and your body will not need any meds after 1 year. I'm on keto diet for more than 1.5 years and lost over 40lbs.
My dr prescribed it for fast heart rate and high BP. 25 mg a day broke in half (12.5 mg twice a day) I decided to go to a cardiologist and made an appt for next week. I am reading a lot online that the meds cause weight gain. Even if people eat healthy. I need to lose 40 lbs not gain. I’ve been taken it for 3 days and my pulse in the 90’s several times still and BP 140/90. Is it hard to get off of and switch to a new med? I was reading also how side effects are terrible to ween off of.
I've taken Metoprolol Succinate ER (ER stands for extended release) 200mg per day for over 30 years.
It sounds like your dosage is not high enough.
Sometimes doctor starts a patient on a low dose and then increase the too low dose when it is not effective enough.
It's a medication which works really well at proper dose.
Don't worry about weight gain at all - it's just not something to worry about - as it is tiny if it happens at all.
Controlling the maladies which you have is very important!!
I also take Lisinopril 40mg per day and it works very well.
I take it for high blood pressure and to decrease heart rate, not for heart disease.
My wire takes 50 mg twice a day for the same reason as you. She has no heart disease but a high pulse and erratic BP. WE vary the dose some when she is very low BP or very high
Seems like people take this for heart disease. It is normal to be taken it just for high BP?
I think my mom takes it for BP.
I started taking another beta blocker last year for migraine and have gained weight. However, I was on topamax before that and it helps lower weight. Beta blockers keep your heart rate low, so it is harder to get a good effect from exercise.
My wife has been on it a good five years. So it may be built up in her system uniike when someone starts taking it. When we give it to her, we see her BP and pulse respond in a matter of hours not days
