Ive had an ingrown toenail lately. There was a lump of solid crispy skin on side which suddenly fell off. Can't find it. Is this normal?

LOL...sorry to laugh but it's such a bizarre question. Please see a podiatrist, they will fix you up.

If this post is even real - it's too bizarre to respond to.

It's real. I've dealt with the ingrown nail since last October. I've been on 3 lots of antibiotics but the infection came back every time. Eventually an extra bit of flesh grows out from the toenail and then after 1.5 months it dries up and falls off. First time it happened bad I thought my toe had popped (I'd been lifting heavy items).

What did your doctor tell you when you asked them if it was normal? I think it's not normal that anyone would ask this question here, on city-data. I mean - you've been through three rounds of antibiotics for this thing, so obviously you HAVE a doctor who is treating it.

Doc said bathe it in salt water every day, take another week's antibiotics. He said nothing about the extra flesh crisping and coming off. Anyway it seems like a scab (to me), when it comes off there is new skin underneath it. My research indicates it could be something called "proud flesh" or "granulation tissue".

Read the question asked. What did your doctor say WHEN YOU ASKED HIM ABOUT THIS?
