When I was 19 years old, I developed a similar pea-sized lump "down there" near where I shaved but not exactly where I shaved. After going to two gynos, one plastic surgeon, and three dermatologists, I was diagnosed with a very mild case of hydradentitis. It's a relatively rare disorder that varies extremely in severity and longevity. The bumps appear darker than the normal skin and are most commonly present in the armpits and groin, thus they are often mistaken for ingrown hairs. I have only had one more bump in the past six years. In my case, they were relatively harmless/painless.
If you choose to look up this disorder, please do not let the graphic pictures frighten you as they once did me. Remember, the pictures that are most often chosen for exhibit are extreme cases. Hopefully, this helps...
