Miami, FL (AHN) - Federal health officials say most Americans consume more than double the recommended daily intake of salt.

Diets high in sodium are linked to increased incidences of high blood pressure, a leading cause of heart disease and stroke, which respectively are the first and third leading causes of death in the United States, according to the U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Food without salt is like sex without a partner...! I like my food white..! I have tried many times to cut down, but food isn't worth eating without it.
Fortunately, even with my high salt diet, my blood pressure is very low. In my 60's, my pressure is that of a teen.

I would say many people eat 3 or 4 times the recommeded level of sodium. Just a typical large cheeseburger can have a day's worth of sodium.
