Im about 16 weeks pregnant and the doctor said I have blood in my urine.
Wants to give me an LP test, but wants me to have my ultrasound before. He said my uterus is measuring about 12 weeks instead of 16 weeks. May
this be the cause of the blood in my urine.
I also expressed to him my THIRST, twice and I dont believe hes is listening to my problem. I have never been so thirsty in my life and this will be my 4'th child and I never experienced such an issue.
Will the LP test possibly show why Im so thirsty?

Thirst is a symptom of diabetes so you may have gestational diabetes. Are you certain the blood is in the urine? If that is the case it would be an issue with the kidneys. If it wasn't done with a catheter, then it may be blood from your uterus. That is not necessary a concern. An ultrasound will show if there is any bleeding.

Bottom line is if your doctor will not even explain what an LP is and ignores you comments about thirst then I would find another doctor ASAP. Yes I know that is hard to change doctors while pregnant but I did it and I am very happy I did it. Remember you are entrusting your life and your child's life to you ob doctor. Most women do not realize this unless something goes wrong. I went though that with my dd. The on call doctor was so impatient that she checked neonatal death on the medical records. She didn't even wait to see the outcome. Fortunately my dd recovered and is now a healthy preschooler.

Until you find a new Ob you can ask your regular doctor to order some blood and urine tests.

The only LP that I have heard of is a Lumbar Puncture, aka a Spinal Tap.

Lumbar Puncture just doesn't sound right, even though it's the usual meaning of 'LP'.

Mind you, I am only guessing as a medical coder, but it does sound as if the MD is concerned about IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction), which, combined with the presence of hematuria (blood in the urine), could be warning signs of thrombocytopenia (Low Platelet count).

If that is the case, then 'LP' could be testing for your platelet count.

The ultrasound would be needed to check for abnormalities in the placenta, umbilical cord, or fetus (size, bleeding/clots, etc.).

Lipo protein, LDL cholesterol in the blood, I googled it, but it doesn't explain this test during pregnancy.
