Gotta go with Texas, it has the most colorful past. Mexican province...Alamo and San Jacinto...Independent Republic..Texas Rangers vs the Comanches, Bent's Fort and Adobe Walls...trigger point for the Mexican War...Judge Roy Bean's "Law West of the Pecos"...oil boom....Ma and Pa Ferguson...assassination of JFK...
I'd lean to New York. The, French and Indian War, Revolutionary War, War of 1812, the Industrialist Movement, New York City development, its just very historical.
Most boring: Kansas? Nebraska? Oh... Ohio, probably.
I thnik most states have interesting histories really. For ;of course;the texas history is the most interesting personally.I also find Louisana histroy and the unique culture very interesting.
I agree with texdav---Louisiana. First of all, the very existence of New Orleans and the Mississippi River, and all that that entails, from pirates to military conquests. Then, its highly contrasting culture, of Mediterranean catholics in the south, and bible belt conservatives in the north. Then the 20th century political machinations, with Huey Long at the apex.
I'd have to go with Pennsylvania. One of the oldest colonies and one of the oldest cities. From the French and Indian War to Independence, to the Civil War, Industrial Boom, Steel Town, etc. PA has a long and incredibly vibrant history showcasing just about every facet of the American experience. It has truly always been and in some cases still is the "Keystone State".
I'm not sure that any one state's history is "more" interesting than another's. But I'm going to cast my vote for the State that Almost Was--and I refer here to the State of Franklin, which existed between 1784 and 1788 with John Sevier as its elected Governor, before being absorbed into what's now eastern Tennessee.
