Our tree is usually live and goes up about a week or so before Christmas and stays up until 12 days after Christmas at Olde Christmas. The saddest thing I know is to see Christmas trees laying on the street the day after Christmas. We are celebrating the birth of Jesus and it should take longer than one day to do it.

I say, put the tree up later and leave it longer. I try to have my Christmas shopping done by Thanksgiving so I can relax and enjoy the holiday season. It makes no sense to me to look forward to the birth of Christ and then be so happy it is over. Twelve days should not be too long to celebrate the birth of Christ and to celebrate the fact that He has arrived.

When you have a child of your own do you just celebrate for one day or do you spend the next few days sharing with friends and having guests over? Please think about what you are doing and why you are doing it.

Just after Thanksgiving weekend, normally, but now that we have a Guest Inn, I sometimes start it sooner since it takes me most of a week to get everything out....occasionally have someone who wants to rent the place for a Christmas party in early Dec.

lol I am really looking forward to Christmas this year, which is unusual for me. We also put up a live tree. I always want to get the tree the first weekend of December, but somehow it never happens until the second weekend.

Right after Thankgsgiving, but I'm planning tablescapes and decorations now.

* I hope people post pictures of their trees and decorations this year.

I am not a fan of Christmas. If I did not have a child, seriously I think I would ditch the holiday altogether. So now that I have stated that I am a scrooge I have started to put up my tree sooner than in the years past. The reason being the house we have now is the largest house we have ever owned and we have a living room and family room. I put the tree up in the living room which is a room we do not hang out in full time. So the decorations do not grate on my nerves as quickly.
