The location of wire does not change its physical ampacity; the point was made because the OP was worried the circuit was overloaded. The ampacity of #12 IS 30A.


A 30A OCPD (fuse) can certainly be ok for #12cu where allowed in a dwelling, as I've already mentioned. You can fuse it at 40A, 50A, whatever the equipment calls for as long as its within the exceptions of the code.
