I was having a discussion on HoAs and wanted her opinion. She started talking about all the negative things about her HoA then she blurts out "well at least we don't have to deal with pink or purple houses!" Which got me thinking... what's wrong with pink? Or purple? We have more than a few of them here in Buffalo. Some more tastefully done than other but I never figured pink or purple as poor house colors. Am I living in some sort of bubble?

Maybe this. Meow

My only requirement for living in an HOA sub is that people maintain their homes and don't start a junk car lot in their backyard. My HOA is pretty laid back, almost too much at times. My neighbor has a white house, royal blue shutters and a bright red door. It looks like crap IMO but the house is maintained, grass is cut and so forth. No matter how bad the paint job, if the property is well maintained then its shows pride of ownership and a little bit of creativity.

It's a wonderful argument... breaking out what would be an exceptionally rare case to try and prove a point.

Anyway, I'm not sure what's exactly wrong with the color besides the fact that I'm not a big fan of either really, unless it's pink brickwork that usually comes along with a vintage sort of look.

Just think if you had to call 911 for an emergency at your house. All you would have to say is... I live next door to the pink house. That should avoid some confusion. LOL

Nothing wrong with pink or pruple; just paint those houses somewhere not next to me. I don't want my property value to drop 15%.

Other tasteful decorations in Buffalo: Flamingos in front yard.

In order to look right, pink and purple require a very specific type of architecture that in the US is largely limited to Victorian and related styles or alternately 'Floribbean' concrete block ranch houses.

Well I like pink as much as the next guy...here in Brooklyn NY we have a lot of Brownstones, but on one block "Carroll Street", we have a row of "Brownstones", and one "Pink Stone".

The house has been painted a pepto-Bismol pink since the 60's.
The neighborhood has been landmarked many years ago, but the Pink house was, Pink already so the owner is allowed to keep it.

You either love it , or hate it...but us Brownstone Brooklyn folk are so used to it now.....The owner is a very nice man, and it is well taken care of..

For kicks, type in Pink brownstone in park Slope Brooklyn NY, many stories and pictures will come up........
